There's a Nigerian Carnival taking place in Finsbury Park where they will be raising awareness of the 50th Anniversary of Nigerian Independance this weekend whilst just down the road in Clissold Park the Festival of Yoruba Arts promises Bata drummers, masquerades, jesters, arts and crafts exhibitions, workshops, presentations, Yoruba cuisine and live music & dance performances on Saturday.

It's a busy weekend in the people's republic of Hackney with the Hackney One Carnival also taking place on Sunday.

Out west the huge London Mela takes over Gunnersby Park in Ealing on Sunday whilst Richmond has a small, family festival by the river on Saturday in aid of Mencap.

Fans of the blues can head to Broomfield Park in Enfield where there will be a day of folk blues outdoors on the bandstand on Sunday as part of a series of free blues concerts taking place every Sunday until the 22nd August.

Finally the Scoop amphitheatre on the South Bank has free theatre over the weekend where you can catch Toad Hall or Don Juan in Love.
