Well the weekend is nearly here and it doesn't look set to disappoint. The third Hackney WickED Arts Festival takes place over the weekend bringing outdoor screenings, open house galleries, 4 outdoor music stages, kids activities and much more to this once unloved, and now toroughly gentrified,  area of the People's Republic of Hackney.

Elsewhere and Croydon comes good, with the World Party on Saturday which has no less than The Damned, Martha Reed & The Vandellas and The Lightening Seeds all taking to the main stage.  On Sunday Croydon Mela will be held, same time, same place.

It's Carnaval del Pueblo on Sunday in Burgess Park, Southwark, the ever popular Latin Festival which often attracts of 100,000 people.  Out West Ealing Jazz Festival in Walpole Park begins today (Weds 28th) and has jazz in the park every day until Sunday for just a quid a day  Finally The Msuem of Childhood are getting the holidays off to a good start with their annual Summer Festival.

So that's Summer in London this weekend for ya, enjoy it whilst it lasts.

UPDATE: There's a demonstration outside the DPP on Friday Lunchtime over the death of Ian Tomlinson
