"The work of Danish artist Jeppe Hein (born 1974) often combines sculpture with architecture and technology to playfully solicit the viewer's direct participation. Hein's aquatic sculpture Appearing Rooms was originally commissioned for the garden of the Villa Manin, Italy. Hein was inspired by the Baroque villa to design an ornamental fountain that visitors would be invited to enter, to interact with changing spaces created by rising and falling walls of water."
